Your qMEET Glossary
Every word qMEET uses — Interested, Go Live?,
Proposed, Member Match — explained in plain
English, alongside the everyday terms for events, groups and meeting people.
You don't need to know any of this to start. Look things up when
you're curious; ignore the rest.
📅 Saying You'll Go
The two answers on every event, and what each one actually does.
Interested?
A signal, not a commitment — Yeah!, Maybe, or no. It tells the organizer there's appetite and keeps the event in your own lists, but it does not put you on the guest list. Saves the instant you pick it.
Are you going? (your RSVP)
The actual commitment. Saying you're going also joins you to the event as a member. If the organizer requires approval you stay pending until they approve you. Also saves the instant you pick it.
Half the RSVP card saves itself
The two answers above save on pick. The guest count and the note fields do not — those need ✓ Save RSVP. It's one card with two save models, which is worth knowing before you close the tab.
Proposed event
A badge meaning the date isn't locked in yet — the organizer set "Is this date locked in?" to Still being decided to float an idea and gauge interest. It says nothing about who can see the event. ⚠ About uses the phrase "Proposed events" for something else entirely: ownerless events qMEET auto-suggests for anyone to claim and run. Different feature, same two words.
Confirmed
The opposite of Proposed, and the default: the date is settled. No badge is shown.
Pending
You've said you're going to an event whose organizer approves guests, and they haven't approved you yet.
Vote on Activities
Members vote for the activities tagged to an event, so the organizer can plan what people actually want to do. Separate from your RSVP.
🚀 Running an Event or Group
The organizer's controls — and which one actually controls visibility.
Go Live?
The one switch that decides whether members can find your event. New events start hidden, so you can build one over several sittings; flip this to Yes under 🚀 Publish when you're ready. Nothing else on the page changes visibility.
Is this date locked in?
A commitment signal, not a second visibility switch. Confirmed or Still being decided — the latter shows members a Proposed event badge. Either way the event is exactly as visible as Go Live? says it is.
Organizer
Whoever runs an event or group: edits it, approves members, and messages everyone. An event with no organizer can be claimed — look for the "become the organizer" card on its page.
Tags
The interests an event or group is about. They're how it reaches the right members — and a public event needs at least one before it can go live.
Event vs. Group
An event happens once, at a time and place. A group is an ongoing community that can hold many events over time.
Visibility (public / private)
Whether an event is listed for everyone or only reachable by the people you invite. Distinct from Go Live?, which is the on/off switch; this is the audience.

Two similarly-named pages that do genuinely different things.
Member Search
You supply the criteria — age, gender, location, shared interests — and qMEET returns who matches. Use it when you know what you're looking for. Open it.
Member Match
qMEET does the choosing: members who share your interests, ranked by how much overlap there is. Use it when you don't. It only works once you've tagged some interests. Open it.
Interests
What you're into, tagged on your profile as Top, Like or not. They drive Member Match, the event and group suggestions on your Dashboard, and which notifications you get. Set yours.
Availability
The days and times you're usually free, marked on your profile. Organizers see charts of when most people can actually make it — it's the difference between guessing a date and knowing one.
Contacts
Your own list of qMEET people, so you can find and message them again without searching. Separate from event membership.
💬 The Chat Surfaces
Four chat-shaped names in one menu. This is which is which.
1:1 Chat
Private messages with one member, held in an inbox you can come back to. The default. Open it.
1:1 Live Chat
The same messages as 1:1 Chat, shown in real time with typing indicators and read receipts. Not a separate conversation — a different window onto the same one.
Chat Room
A group conversation attached to an event, group or interest — everyone there sees it. This is the one that isn't private.
Chat (Low Data)
Again the same 1:1 messages, stripped to text only for a poor connection or a tight data plan.
Text Replacements
Words qMEET swaps automatically as you send a message — your own shorthand, expanded.
📍 Status & Presence
Telling people what you're up to, or where you are right now.
Status
A short note or mood on your profile — what you're up to, or up for. It has nothing to do with an event's status; same word, different thing.
Check-In
Saying "I'm here now" at a place, for a window of time, so nearby members can join you. Built for spur-of-the-moment meet-ups rather than planned events. It expires on its own.
Place
A venue you've saved or added — the thing you check in to. Places can be reused across check-ins and events.
Alert Bar
The strip that surfaces anything timely — a new invitation, an imminent event, an unread message — wherever you are on the site.
Do Not Disturb
Quiet hours. qMEET holds notifications during the window you set instead of pinging you. Set yours.
⚙️ Your Account
Settings whose names don't quite say what they do.
Simple mode (Site Mode)
How much of the menu you see: Simple, Standard or Ludicrous. New qMEET accounts start on Simple, which hides nine menu entries. It only removes menu entries — every page still opens from a direct link, and nothing is switched off. Change it in Preferences.
Survey
A set of questions attached to an event or group — poll the guests on food, timing, or anything else. Anyone can take one; organizers create them.
Default Page
Where qMEET opens when you launch it or click the logo. Set it in Preferences.
Bad-word filter
An optional per-account setting that masks offensive language in chat. Off means you see messages as written.
Block / Flag
Block stops a member reaching you at all. Flag reports content to us for review. You can do either without the other person being told.
