It's ok to display my last name starts unticked. Left alone, you show up as
Jane S. — first name plus last initial — and ticking it makes that
Jane Smith. Both go to anyone who can reach the page, signed in or not, and
either way you can change it later on
Preferences.
It does not control who can find you. Members can look you up by
your exact email address or phone number either way. Being findable by
name is a separate setting on
Preferences, and it starts off.
