What you'll see 🌄 Big views🌊 River or creek

An old mining road contours above the Kennicott Glacier before dropping onto the white ice of the Root Glacier. Once on the ice you can walk among blue pools, moulins and meltwater channels.

Tips
You need microspikes or crampons to step onto the ice, and a guide is strongly advised - moulins are deep, vertical and lethal. Guides and gear hire are available in Kennecott. The village itself is reached by shuttle from the end of the McCarthy Road.
