Switchbacks up through pinyon, juniper and oak to a ridge with a long view down Juniper Canyon to the Sierra del Carmen in Mexico. Numbered posts follow a self-guided interpretive booklet available at the trailhead.

Tips
The tiny roadside pullout fills by 8am - if it is full, park in the Basin and walk up, or come back at 4pm. Turning round at marker 10 gets most of the view for half the climb.
