Arizona Trail (North Rim Update) July 30, 2026: CLOSED FOR REPAIRS: Arizona Trail between North Kaibab Trailhead and the W1-A (Old Entrance Road) OPEN: Arizona Trail north of the W1-A to the North Boundary of the park. A section of this trail enters the park just east of the park's North Entrance, and roughly parallels the highway until it connects with the North Kaibab Trail, a distance of approximately 10 miles (16 km) > Learn More. The roughly 21-mile crossing through Grand Canyon showcases dramatic changes in elevation, climate, vegetation, and geology-including nearly two billion years of exposed rock-and is considered one of the most scenic and challenging sections of the Arizona Trail.

As of July 2026 the Arizona Trail is closed for repairs between the North Kaibab Trailhead and the park boundary - check the current status if you are thru-hiking.
