What you'll see ⛰️ Summit🌄 Big views🌲 Old growth

From Mahogany Flat the trail climbs through pinyon and limber pine into a bristlecone forest, then along an open ridge to the summit. From the top you can see both the lowest point in North America and, on a clear day, Mount Whitney - the highest in the lower 48.

Tips
The access road to Mahogany Flat needs high clearance and often four-wheel drive. From November to May this is a snow and ice climb needing an axe and crampons, not a walk. Start before dawn.
