The Sand Point Marsh Trail is one of the few park trails easy to access by regular vehicle in winter. The trail begins near the end of Sand Point Road, across from the main beach parking. The road and parking lot are plowed all winter. The 1/2 mile trail loop is highlighted by frozen ponds, snow-covered cattails, bright red winterberries, and solitude. In winter the snow on the trail is usually deep enought to require snowshoes. Even when there is little snow, the trail can be icy and slippery - ice cleats may be needed. Pets are not allowed on the trail at any time of year. The vault toilet at the parking lot is open year-round.
