The CCC Spur Trail is a 0.2 mile long hiking trail that takes visitors through the woodlands surrounding the bayou, ending at an outlook point that faces the water. The trailhead is located on the west side of the main park road on the way to the visitor center. You'll travel through a mix of pines, deciduous trees, and palmettos, before reaching the overlook. The trail is named for the Civilian Conservation Corps who were responsible for creating this recreation area in 1938. While on this trail visitors can view the remnants of the CCC settlement while experiencing the biodiversity of Mississippi forest habits. Duration: 15-30 minutes
