Leading west and then north from the Limantour Beach Trailhead, the Muddy Hollow Trail offers birders great opportunities to see a variety of waterfowl and shorebirds in the Estero de Limantour and along Muddy Hollow Creek. The Muddy Hollow Trail is very flat and easy to walk. Both trails that start from the Limantour Beach Trailhead offer birders great opportunities to see a variety of water fowl and shorebirds in the Estero de Limantour and along Muddy Hollow Creek. Both the Limantour Spit and Muddy Hollow trails are very flat and easy to walk. Check current conditions and trail advisories and closures before your visit. Bicycles are not permitted on any of the routes that start from the Limantour Beach Trailhead. Pets are not permitted on most of the trails that start from the Limantour Beach Trailhead. However, pets on a six-foot-or-shorter leash are permitted on the path that leads directly south to the beach and are permitted on Limantour Beach east of the main Limantour Beach Access Trail (e.g., to the left if you are facing Drakes Bay). Drones are not permitted anywhere in Point Reyes National Seashore. Parking The Limantour Beach Trailhead parking lot is approximately 20 minutes by car from the Bear Valley Visitor Center.
