🔍 Search Overrides Your Filters
Type words and press Enter. Every word has to turn up, in any order, in a
group's name, its description, or one of its topic tags — one word can
come from the name and another from a tag, so a group can appear whose name and blurb
never mention what you typed.
A search term ignores every filter — city, radius, size, activity, Which
Groups. Clear the box to get your filters back. A Quick view (🔥 Active This
Week…) clears the box and every filter before applying its own.
Filter changes apply when you tap 🔍 Search or close the panel;
Sort By re-sorts at once. Filters save to your account and follow you across
devices, so while any are on the closed ⚙ Filters & Sort strip says how many, and
each one shows as a chip above the results — tap its × to drop just that one, or
↺ Reset Filters for all of them.
📍 How the Location Filter Works
Most groups cover a whole metro area and carry no city of their own.
City + Radius is what finds them: your city and each group's metro center both
resolve to map coordinates, so Novi within 50 miles also returns Detroit Metro
groups.
Any Distance drops City and State entirely and searches
everywhere (Country still applies). If the city you typed isn't recognized, the search
falls back to a plain name match — which misses those metro groups.
🔒 Private Groups and Joining
A Private group appears here only if you created it or already belong. To
everyone else it doesn't exist in search. An Only my contacts group shows up
only for its creator's mutual contacts (and its members).
+ Join on a card joins without opening the group. If the organizer screens
members you'll see Awaiting Approval until they say yes — unless one of its
organizers invited you, which counts as the approval and lets you straight in.
Leaving is × Leave Group in the Actions card on the group's own page.
💡 Tips
- Default sort is Most Interests Matched — rate things on
My Interests & Skills to make it work.
- 👥 My Groups in the menu is this page with a preset. Change any filter and it
becomes an ordinary search — ← Back to My Groups above the results puts it back.
- 🔗 Invite on a card invites people to a group without joining it
yourself. They get an invitation on their Home page and
are only in the group once they accept it.
- Created a group nobody can find? Others only see it once Go Live? is Yes,
and then only the audience its Who can see this group setting allows.
- + Create New Group (bottom) opens Create Group —
add topic tags so interest sorting can surface it. Not sure what to start?
Event Suggester lists groups members want that don't exist yet.
