What you'll see ⛰️ Summit🌄 Big views

Take a short, easy hike to reach magnificent views of high Sierra peaks, meadows, and domes. A trail along the western edge of the meadow curves around to the east side of Pothole Dome. From there, walk up to the top of this short granite dome. Distance: 1 mi (1.6 km) round-trip Elevation gain: 200 ft (60 m) Time estimate: 1 hour Tips & Seasonal Information Stay on designated trails to protect this fragile meadow ecosystem! Off-trail travel compacts meadow soil and crushes plants, damaging the ecosystem that is important to the many plants and animals that thrive in this fragile environment. Pets and bicycles are not allowed on hiking trails. This trailhead is only reachable by vehicle when Tioga Road is open, typically late May or early June to sometime in October or November. Tioga Road closes after the first significant snowfall. Overnight parking on this road, including this trailhead, ends October 15. For current road and weather information, please call 209/372-0200 (press 1, then 1). Accessibility This trail is not wheelchair accessible.

Tips
The glacial polish and striations on the rock are the clearest in the park - you can see the direction the ice moved. Superb sunset spot.
