The Greenstone runs the length of Isle Royale from Windigo to Lookout Louise, crossing Mount Desor, the island's high point at 1,394 feet. Most people take four to five days and use the passenger ferries at both ends.

Tips
A wilderness permit is required and campsites are first come, first served, so carry a tent even if you plan on shelters. Ferry schedules dictate everything - book them before you plan the walk. Water must be filtered for tapeworm, and moose are far more dangerous than the wolves.
