The boardwalk floats above the floodplain among bald cypress and water tupelo, some of the tallest trees in eastern North America. Congaree holds several national champion trees and one of the highest forest canopies anywhere in the world.

Tips
Fully accessible and the only trail that stays walkable when the floodplain is under water. Go at dusk in late May or early June for the synchronous fireflies.
