A 300 yard paved walk from the Welcome Center to the Dig Shelter.

Tips
No reservations are required to walk the trails. However, to enter the Dig Shelter you must be accompanied by a guide, and a fee applies. To visit the Dig Shelter, please start first at the Welcome Center. Pets are welcome in all outdoor areas at Waco Mammoth National Monument. Your pets are sure to enjoy our paved trail, picnic area, and grassy knolls near the parking lot. Please remember: Pets must be accompanied by their people at all times. They must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet at all times. Please clean up after your pets. Pets are NOT allowed in the dig shelter or inside buildings. Because guided tours enter the dig shelter, pets are not allowed on tour. Only registered service animals are allowed inside buildings at Waco Mammoth National Monument. A word of caution: Do not leave pets unattended in vehicles. Interior temperatures of vehicles can soar above 120 degF (49 degC) in minutes. Pets can quickly overheat and die under these conditions, even with the windows cracked.
