What you'll see ⛰️ Summit🌄 Big views🦌 Wildlife🎒 Backpacking

The park is 3.3 million acres with roughly nine miles of maintained trail, all of it at Bartlett Cove. Everywhere else you travel by boat or kayak and walk beaches, moraines and open ground. Recently deglaciated terrain near the glacier faces is often the easiest walking, because the alder has not colonised it yet.

Tips
A free permit and a backcountry orientation are required. The day boat will drop and collect campers and kayakers at set points. Bear-resistant food canisters are mandatory and issued free. Tides here run over 20 feet and can strand or float away a badly placed camp.
