The trail drops nearly a thousand feet from Centerline Road through the wettest forest on St. John, past the ruins of four sugar estates. A short spur leads to a freshwater pool carved with pre-Columbian Taino petroglyphs, and the trail ends at the Reef Bay sugar factory with its intact steam works.

Tips
It is downhill all the way, which means climbing 937 feet back out in tropical heat unless you arrange a boat pickup - the Friends of the Park run a guided hike with a boat return that is the sensible way to do it. Carry three litres.
