The Giant Sequoia National Monument covers 328,315 acres of the southern Sierra Nevada and is administered by the U.S. Forest Service as part of Sequoia National Forest. It holds roughly half of the world's remaining giant sequoia groves - some 38 groves in all - wrapped around the northern and southern ends of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.
