Elkhorn Picnic Area is located approximately 18 miles south of Boulder, MT, east of MT Highway 69. The area is located in the historic ghost town of Elkhorn and Elkhorn State Park. The area showcases a 19th century mining town that includes the historic Fraternity Hall and Gillian Hall nestled within the privately owned town of Elkhorn. In the early days, the area was the site of a silver mine, which has long since closed, leaving a picturesque town for visitors. There are tables and toilet facilities at the picnic area.
