Tips

  • Allow notifications 🔔 so we can notify you of urgent messages.
  • Real-time chat: LiveChat is built for real-time 1:1 texting. Hit the Back button (to the left of the recipient’s name) to return to qChat, where you’ll find more features.
  • Text Replace: your Chat Text Replace shortcuts expand here as you send too — e.g. omw becomes on my way.
  • Set colors: use the color buttons in this menu, or long-press / double-click a message — a message you received sets that contact’s color (also shown in Chat); one of your messages sets your sent color (LiveChat-only; pick Auto for the default shade).
  • Timestamps: tap any message to see when it was sent or received.
  • Read checkmarks: a ✓ appears right after a message once it’s been read — on your sent messages when the other person reads them, and on messages you received once you mark them read. Turn Show Checkmarks to Confirm Msgs ‘Read’ off to hide both.
  • Chat With: switch to another conversation without leaving this page — favorites are listed first.
  • Load earlier: tap the button at the top of the thread to load older messages.
  • If a message fails to send it turns red — tap it to try again.
  • Mark read: the ✓ button at the bottom-left marks every message shown here as read.
  • Unread count: the number after the recipient’s name (e.g. “(6)”) is how many unread messages are currently displayed.
  • Font Size sets how big the messages look; Messages Shown sets how many already-read messages to load — every unread message always shows, no matter the count. Both are remembered on this device.
  • Background sets a background color for this chat (pick Default to restore it); Sound picks which cue plays on a new message (or None for silence) — choosing one previews it. Both are remembered on this device.
  • I’m on LiveChat sends an urgent ping that lets the other person know you’re here and waiting to text in real time.
  • BRB / AFK: one tap sends a quick “BRB” or “AFK” message so the other person knows you’ve stepped away.
  • Unsend takes back the last message you sent here — it’s removed from the conversation and its text drops back into the box so you can edit and resend it.
  • Show LiveChat Msgs Only: on by default so only messages sent from LiveChat appear here; turn it off to also include messages from the regular Chat.
  • Urgent messages: any urgent message this person sent you — even one sent from the regular Chat — is always pulled in and shown in an ‼ Urgent block at the bottom, so you never miss one. They clear once you’ve read them in Chat.
