🔑 Joining, and What Can Block It
At a Glance spells out the rules before you commit: whether approval is
needed, and how many spots are left.
If the group screens members, your join lands pending — and
💬 Group Chat stays hidden until an organizer approves you. Those
groups also show a Why do you want to join? box above
＋ Join Group; it's optional, and the organizer reads it.
Were you invited by one of its organizers? That invite counts as the
approval — ＋ Join Group here and ✓ Accept on the invite card on
Home both let you straight in. An invite from a
regular member doesn't; you still wait like anyone else.
Some groups are guys only or girls only; you're turned away
only if your profile gender is the opposite (no gender set still gets in). A
full group refuses new members — unless it screens them, in which case your
request queues up anyway and the organizer picks.
📈 The Member Charts Are Anonymous
📊 Member Availability and 🧩 Member Interests & Cities build
themselves from members' own profiles — there's no poll to send around.
Every figure is a count, and no member is named. The
🗺 Show Members on Map button inside the interests card is the
separate members map, and that one does name people.
Any signed-in viewer sees them, not just organizers. Handy for picking a
day, an activity, and a place that most people can make.
Availability counts only members whose own privacy setting lets you see it,
and a member can additionally share it with organizers — so an organizer's
chart can include people yours leaves out.
🗳️ Voting On Activities
Every tag an organizer put on the group becomes a question in
🗳️ Vote on Proposed Activities — answer YEAH!, Sure!,
Maybe, Naw or Another Time. Any signed-in visitor can
vote; you don't have to join the group first.
Answer as many as you like, then press ✓ Save Votes — nothing is
recorded until you do, so you can change your mind first. Tick
Add Interest to Profile beside one and, when you save, it also joins
your own interests, which is what matches you to other groups and events.
Until you've answered at least one activity,
📊 Activity Voting Results shows a nudge where the tallies would be;
organizers and admins always see the tallies. A group with no tags shows
neither card.
🌟 Groups Without an Organizer
Some groups were seeded from a popular interest and nobody runs them yet — and a
real group whose organizers have all left reads the same way. Both show a
🌟 This Group Needs an Organizer card.
Tick the responsibilities box first — 🌟 Become the Organizer won't submit
until you do. Then you join as a member and become the organizer
immediately, with ✎ Edit Group, member approvals, and group tags.
It's first come. Once someone accepts, the offer disappears for
everyone else. A group that was imported rather than created by a member
offers Claim this group at the top of the page instead — same outcome.
💡 Tips
- Group Files — handouts, flyers, maps — hide inside the
ℹ️ About This Group card, and only appear once an organizer posts one.
- Sharing a link to a private group won't let someone in — they still have
to be a member.
- × Leave Group is in the Actions card, not the membership one. You
can re-join later.
- The chips under the title — At a Glance, About, Events,
Vote, Chat, Members — open that card and scroll to it. A
chip is hidden when its card isn't on the page.
- Each chip in Group Tags is a link: it runs a Find Groups
search for that tag, so you can see who else does the same thing.
- Reports go to admins; the organizer is never told who reported.
