🔍 Search Overrides Every Filter
Text in the search box ignores all your filters — When, City, radius,
category, cost, size, the lot. You get every event matching the term.
Clear the box to browse by filters again. Tapping a Quick view
(📅 Today, 🆓 Free…) clears it for you — along with every other
filter. A Quick view is a fresh start, not one more filter added to
what you already had, so what comes back is exactly what the button says.
Your hidden categories are left alone.
Search reads the event name, its description, and its
interest tags — so "hiking" also finds events tagged hiking that never say
the word. Type several words and every one has to turn up, in any order —
"club book" finds "Book Club", and a tag can supply one word while the name supplies another.
⚠ "Every filter" includes your hidden categories: while a search
is running, events from categories you hid can appear. Clear the box and they go
back to being hidden.
📍 Radius Always Names Its Center
Radius measures from a place, and the line under the dropdown says which
one: the City you typed under ⚙ Filters & Sort, or your
profile location when that box is blank.
If there's no center to measure from — nothing typed, and no city on
your profile — the Radius dropdown is grayed out and says so, instead of
looking like it's filtering when it isn't. Your City and State are filled in for
you on a first visit, so this is rare.
Any Distance isn't a big radius — it's the off switch. It throws away
your City and State completely and searches everywhere.
Both routes use your device's GPS, and they do different amounts.
📍 Use My Location, beside the City boxes, fills in City / State / Country
and nothing else — you still tap 🔍 Search when you're ready.
The Quick views buttons at the top are the whole thing in one tap. Each one
clears every filter, finds where you are, then sets the place, a 50-mile
radius and Sort → Nearest First alongside its own filter — 📅 Today,
🌅 Tomorrow, 🎉 This Weekend, 🆓 Free, 👥 Big Events or
🎯 My Interests — and runs the search.
Say no to the location prompt and they still work — they measure
from your profile city instead, and the line under the buttons says which one they
used. Both routes need U.S. coordinates — outside the U.S., type the city in
instead.
✈️ Search A Trip's Destinations (under ⚙ Filters & Sort) points the
whole location filter at a PacklistPRO trip instead of a city: pick a trip and
every destination saved on it is searched at once — untick any you don't want.
The group only appears if you own a trip that has destinations.
While a trip is selected the City, State and
Country boxes are disabled, because the trip is what's being
searched — the note beside them says so. Clear the trip to get them back. Radius
still applies; it just measures from each destination.
★ Interested Is Not An RSVP
Tap a card's header to expand it. ★ Interested and Maybe only flag the
event for you, so you can find it later.
To say you're going, open Event Details → 🙋 Interested? RSVP!. Organizers
plan headcount from RSVPs — and decide whether to run the event at all. An event with
no interest gets canceled, so tag the ones you like even when nobody has signed up yet.
The RSVP pill rides on every card, right beside the ★ one. Before you answer it
reads 🙋 RSVP; afterwards it shows your answer — ✓ You're going,
You might go, × You're not going. Two pills, two different
questions. Tap the RSVP one at any time and it takes you straight to that
event's RSVP card.
× Not interested hides the event from your normal browse. 💬 Chat shows
up on a card only once you're Interested or Maybe (or already a member or organizer).
🏷 Filters That Drop Events Quietly
My Interests matches your interests against the event title only, not
its tags. With nothing tagged on Interests,
it returns zero results.
$N and under and the Event Size floors drop events with no price or no
attendance estimate on file — an unknown can't be proven under the cap.
Free or Unknown is the one cost option that keeps them.
Hide These Categories: unchecking a category removes it from your
All categories results for good, on every device. Picking that category
specifically still shows it.
💡 Tips
- Filters save to your account, not the device — same list on your phone and laptop.
- Sort by Most Interests Matched to rank events by how many of your interest tags they carry.
- Keyword Lists (under ⚙ Filters & Sort) filter titles by any word in a named set — e.g. Winter Activities → ski, snowboard, skating.
- 🔗 Share / Invite on an expanded card copies the link or invites your contacts.
- Nothing fits? ＋ Create New Event at the bottom opens Create Event,
and Event Suggester lists events members near you want that nobody has made yet.
- While any filter is on, the closed ⚙ Filters & Sort strip says how many, and each shows as a
chip above the results — its × drops just that one.
