The instrumentatio n of 3 horns and rhythm section allows each member ample opportunity to ex plore jazz improvisation and composition and to develop an individual styl e. Momentum MOMENTUM is a dynamic blend of horns\, vocal and rhythm sectio n that regularly competes in jazz festivals and has an active performance schedule. In addition to frequent campus concerts\, these combos often per form in local clubs\, at jazz festivals\, records CD's\, and tours with th e Jazz Lab Band each year. They have been selected as the Outstanding Jazz Combo at the UW-Eau Claire Jazz Festival on three occasions and twice at the Aquinas College Jazz Festival. Velocity Velocity is a classic small ja zz combo playing traditional jazz. Their sound evokes the golden age of ja zz\, with a focus on swing\, intricate improvisation\, and a strong founda tion in the genre's roots. Prince’s Point Prince's Point is a dynamic fo ur-piece Jazz Fusion band delivering a high-energy blend of jazz\, funk\, and rock. ABOUT MICHIGAN TECH JAZZ Michigan Tech Jazz\, led by Director Ja zz Studies Adam Meckler and Drew Kilpela\, brings the Keweenaw a wide rang e of jazz experiences performed by students\, local performers\, and natio nal names. Its diverse ensembles transform the Rozsa backstage into an int imate jazz club and blow off the roof with the annual Don Keranen Memorial Jazz Festival. About the Presenter The Michigan Tech Music Series unite s students\, faculty\, and community members for a vibrant season of live music in the Keweenaw.
