SUMMARY:Behind the Fence: World War I & the Waterfront at Quincy Smelter
DESCRIPTION:During World War I\, the Quincy Smelter was secured and its wor
 kers vetted for national security passes. Use their waterfront passes to e
 xplore the smelter grounds and reflect upon the Copper Country’s industr
 ial response to the Great War. Meet at the Quincy Smelter parking lot. Par
 ticipants will remain outside of smelter buildings and are required to wea
 r hard hats while inside the smelter fence. Closed-toe shoes are recommend
 ed. Only task-trained service animals are permitted inside the fenced area
 . Ranger programs last about one hour. Accommodations are available upon r
 equest. Water and sunscreen are recommended. In the event of inclement wea
 ther or unexpected events\, programs will be modified or cancelled. Progra
